بيان الحركة السياسية النسوية السورية حول تأجيل مؤتمر الهيئة العامة المزمع عقده في آذار 2020
إن الحركة السياسية النسوية السورية وإذ تتابع عن كثب انتشار فيروس كورونا وتأثيره على خطط السفر العالمية وفرص حضور المشاركات/المشاركين المؤتمر السنوي للهيئة العامة المزمع عقده في آذار 2020، فقد قررت وببالغ الأسف تأجيل مؤتمرها إلى موعد لاحق من هذا العام.
تشير الحركة السياسية النسوية السورية إلى أن الأوضاع في تغير دائم وبشكل متسارع خلال الأسبوعين الفائتين، حيث نشهد حالة طوارئ عالمية، وإذا ندرك المخاوف المتزايدة والمتعلقة بإجراءات السلامة في السفر بشكل عام، فإن الحركة تضع على قمة أولوياتها صحة وسلامة عضوات وأعضاء الحركة السياسية النسوية السورية في ظل الظروف الاستثنائية التي تمر على السوريات/السوريين في داخل سوريا وخارجها.
تعتبر الحركة السياسية النسوية السورية مؤتمر الهيئة العامة السنوي أهم أنشطتها وترى أن قرار التأجيل سيتيح للمؤتمر أن يخدم أهدافه بشكل أفضل. وتعرب عن تقديرها للعمل الدؤوب لعضواتها/أعضائها، شركائها، وفريقها للتخطيط لهذا المؤتمر في ظل هذه الظروف الاستثنائية وغير المسبوقة.
وتعبر عن تقديرها لشركائها (الحكومة الكندية، الرابطة الدولية للنساء من أجل السلام والحرية) في هذا المؤتمر لتعاونهم.
أخيراً، تعرب الحركة السياسية النسوية السورية عن تضامنها مع المرضى والمصابين بالفيروس حول العالم في هذه الأزمة المؤلمة.

The Syrian Women’s Political Movement Statement on the Postponement of its General assembly conference March 2020
The Syrian Women’s Political Movement would like to express its sadness at the unavoidable postponement of its General Assembly conference March 2020.
The Syrian Women’s Political Movement has been closely monitoring the outbreak of Covid-19 and its impact on global travel plans and the likely influence on attendance at it’s second General Assembly annual conference March 2020. Therefore, the decision was taken to postpone the event to a later date in the year. The situation has changed rapidly during the past two weeks as we are in a period of global emergency and we are aware of the increasing concerns related to travel safety in general.
The Syrian Women’s Political Movement took into consideration the safety and health of its members as a top priority in light of the dire circumstances Syrians are undergoing in Syria and abroad. This decision has not been taken lightly but the health of our members, partners and invitees is of paramount importance. We consider our annual conference the most important event of the year internally and internationally. Therefore, its postponement is to allow the event to better serve its purpose.
The Syrian Women’s Political Movement sincerely appreciates all the work that its members, partners and its team have put into the planning of the event throughout this challenging and unprecedented times.
We express our appreciation for our partners for this conference (The Government of Canada, The International Women League for Peace and Freedom) for their cooperation.
Our thoughts are with those affected around the world in these trying times.
